Charles Nolan

Director, Lifelong Intensive Family Emotional (life) Care / Palliative Medicine at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center

Charles Nolan has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Charles started their career as a Nephrologist at David Grant Medical Center in 1985 and later became the Chief of Nephrology division at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Charles then joined UTHSCSA in 1992 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of Kidney Transplant. In 1996, they became an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Hospital. In 2000, they joined UTHSCSA again, this time as a Professor of Medicine and Surgery. During their time at UTHSCSA, they also served as the Medical Director of Kidney Transplant and Director of Palliative Care Program. Currently, they are the Director of Lifelong Intensive Family Emotional (LIFE) Care and Palliative Medicine at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.

Charles Nolan completed their education in medicine with honors at the University of Colorado School of Medicine from 1976 to 1980. Charles then pursued a fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center from 1983 to 1985. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder from 1972 to 1976. Charles also holds certifications in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (obtained in 2012), Nephrology (obtained in 1986), and Internal Medicine (obtained in 1983) from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
