Dan Cowles

Dan Cowles is an experienced software engineering leader, currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Software Engineering at Rate since October 2020, where responsibilities include overseeing the product engineering organization for mortgage origination and realtor platforms. Prior to Rate, Dan held various positions at loanDepot from December 2016 to October 2020, including Vice President and Director of Software Engineering, where significant contributions involved the development and deployment of the mortgage point-of-sale system under the mello product line. Dan's career also includes leadership roles at Callaway Golf, TROY Group, Inc., Formalogix, Stamps.com, FileNET, TRW Defense & Space Systems Group, and Lockheed Martin, demonstrating a strong background in software development and engineering management. Dan holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from UC Irvine.
