Michael Bessel

Michael Bessel serves as the Managing Director and Investments Chief Compliance Officer at The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, a position held since 2011. In this role, Michael Bessel manages all compliance functions related to investments, including oversight of pension trust portfolios and various mutual fund strategies. Prior to this, Michael Bessel held key compliance leadership positions at Credit Suisse, TRG Management LP, GAM USA Inc., BlackRock, Refco Securities, Inc., and The Chase Manhattan Bank, acquiring extensive experience in regulatory compliance across multiple financial sectors. Michael Bessel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and Managerial Sciences from Manhattan University, as well as a Juris Doctor degree specializing in Securities and Corporate law from New York Law School.
