Mark B. Walton has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Mark B. started their career as a Healthcare Consultant at Ernst & Young, where they assisted in the development of studies and strategic plans for various healthcare providers. Mark B. then worked at the University Health Network as the Director of the Patient Care Services Directorate, overseeing the coding/abstracting department and implementing data collection systems.
Mark later joined the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as a Business Consultant, managing operational planning for Y2K contingency plans. After that, they worked as a Principal Consultant at Philips Healthcare, leading the development of a management-consulting program.
Mark then transitioned to KPMG, where they became a Partner, specializing in strategic planning and performance measurement in the healthcare and government sectors. Following their time at KPMG, they founded their own management consulting firm called Mark Walton & Associates Inc., focusing on strategy services in the public sector.
At Halton Healthcare, Mark served as the Vice-President of Strategy, Partnerships, and Performance, where they developed and managed corporate strategies and partnership strategies to improve patient care and system performance.
Mark then took on various leadership roles at Ontario Health, including being a Transitional Regional Lead, Senior Vice President overseeing the COVID-19 pandemic response, and a Provincially Appointed Supervisor for Brentwood Recovery Home.
Currently, Mark is working at Guelph General Hospital as the President and CEO. In this role, they provide strategic leadership, oversees day-to-day operations, and implements quality improvement initiatives to optimize operational effectiveness.
Throughout their career, Mark has demonstrated strong leadership, strategic planning, and operational management skills in the healthcare sector.
Mark B. Walton obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western University between 1988 and 1992. Mark B. then pursued a Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) from the University of Alberta, completing it between 1993 and 1995.
