Cyra Levenson has a diverse work experience in the field of arts and education. Cyra currently holds the position of Deputy Director and Gail Englemberg Director of Education and Public Engagement at the Guggenheim Museum since March 2020. Prior to this, they were the Deputy Director and Head of Public and Academic Engagement at the Cleveland Museum of Art from August 2018 to September 2021. Cyra also served as the Curator of Education and Academic Outreach at the Yale Center for British Art from November 2004 to September 2021. Other roles include Director of Education and Academic Affairs at the Cleveland Museum of Art from June 2016 to 2018, Museum Education Manager at the Rubin Museum of Art from 2001 to 2004, Museum Coordinator at The Heritage School from 2001 to 2003, and Museum Educator at the Seattle Art Museum from 1998 to 2000. Additionally, they have been a Summer Session Faculty member at the Paris College of Art since 2014.
Cyra Levenson completed their Bachelor's degree at Oberlin College. Cyra then pursued an EdM in Art Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Later, they obtained a second EdM in Art Education from the same institution. In 2015-2016, Cyra attended the University of Pennsylvania for an Executive Program in Arts and Culture Strategy. Cyra also obtained additional certifications in Executive Education for Museum Leaders from the Getty Leadership Institute and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University.
