Riyas Basheer has over 15 years of experience in IT, specializing in data center, security, and network management. Riyas began their career as an IT Support Engineer at CHAIN MICRO SYSTEMS in 2004 before moving on to Integral cybertek as a System Engineer. In 2006, Riyas joined Gulf Drilling International as a Network Administrator, and later assumed the role of Team Lead for data center, security, and networks. In this role, they were responsible for designing, planning, and organizing information security initiatives, as well as managing the network, security, telecommunications, and data center. Riyas has certifications in CISM, PMP, CCNP, CEH, MCSE, and ITIL.
Riyas Basheer obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Kerala from 1999 to 2003. Riyas then pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Alagappa University from 2004 to 2006. In addition to their formal education, Riyas has obtained several certifications including CISM, PMP, CCNP, CEH, MCSE, and ITIL. These certifications were obtained from reputable institutions such as Project Management Institute, EC-Council, Cisco, EXIN, and Microsoft. Riyas also holds certifications in data center management and safety (Certified Data Centre Professional and TBOSIET).

Gulf Drilling International
On May 2004, Gulf Drilling International Limited (GDI) was established as the first onshore and offshore oil and gas drilling company in Qatar. GDI was formed as a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (QP), Qatar’s national oil corporation, and Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. (JDC). In July 2007, QP acquired 25% shares of JDC, raising its ownership in GDI to 70%. In February of 2008, all shares of QP were transferred to Gulf International Services, Q.S.C. (GIS) which became a public shareholding company in May 2008 and is listed on the Doha Market.
