Jonathan Pentzien

Jon is the managing partner of our Singapore office, which we opened in 2016, and was previously based in our New York office. He represents global emerging growth technology companies throughout their lifecycles, and the venture capital and growth equity funds that invest in those companies.

Jon has provided counsel on numerous private and public cross-border transactions in India, Singapore, broader SE Asia, China, Europe and the United States, including private securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and U.S.-listed initial public offerings of foreign private issuers (FPIs) and domestic issuers. He also advises his clients on matters of corporate governance, public disclosure, and executive compensation.

Jon’s company clients include 2C2P, Flipkart, FreshToHome, OkCredit, Sea Limited, and Wego. His investor clients include Asia Partners, Lightspeed, Monk’s Hill Ventures, Naspers and Tiger Global. Prior to joining Gunderson Dettmer, Jon was a global capital markets associate with Davis Polk & Wardwell, where he represented The AES Corporation, Aetna, GAIN Capital, Markit, NYSE Euronext, PepsiCo, PPL Corporation, and Ruby Tuesday, as well as most major international investment banks.

After graduating from Notre Dame, Jon served as an officer in the United States Navy. After law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Chester J. Straub of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Joseph E. Irenas of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
