Steve Horton has a work experience starting from their time as an Apprentice Electrician at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) from July 2007 to March 2012. Steve then joined Gurtz Electric Co. and held various roles including Foreman from March 2012 to March 2014, General Foreman from March 2014 to January 2018, Site Superintendent from January 2018 to February 2020, Project Manager from February 2020 to January 2022, and currently serves as the Vice President since December 2021.
Steve Horton attended City Colleges of Chicago-Richard J Daley College from 2007 to 2012, where they obtained an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree in Electrical Construction Management. During the same period, they also participated in the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust program to become an electrician.
In addition to their education, Steve holds several certifications. In March 2021, they obtained the General Supervising Electrician (S) certification from the City of Chicago. In December 2019, they completed the OSHA 30 training from OSHA-INSTITUTE, as well as Crane Signal Person Training and Rigging Hazards Awareness Training from the Construction Safety Council.
Furthermore, in March 2018, Steve received certification in Electrical Estimating from McCormick Systems, Inc. Prior to that, in February 2016, they obtained the 3M Fireproofing Installation Certification from 3M, and in July 2008, they acquired the RSES Refrigerant Usage Certification from the RSES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION.
