Karen Hicks

Karen Hicks has extensive work experience in accounting and financial management. Karen started their career as a Franchise Accountant at Bolands/OSHAWA Group in 1993, where they worked with small business owners, implemented computerized accounting systems, trained staff, and conducted operational and financial audits. In 1998, they joined GWL Realty Advisors as an Assistant Controller, responsible for overseeing the accounting cycle for properties in the Atlantic Region. Karen'sresponsibilities included budgeting, cash flow management, staff supervision, financial statement review, reporting, lease review, audits, and compliance with IFRS. Karen was also involved in a multi-year project implementing a new company-wide property management and accounting system.

Karen Hicks attended Saint Mary's University from 1989 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Business/Management. In 1997, they also earned a Diploma in Management Accounting from the same institution. Later, in October 1999, they obtained the CPA-CMA certification from CPA Canada (Chartered Professional Accountants Canada).
