Michael McCarthy

Michael McCarthy is an accomplished academic and researcher specializing in International Affairs, with current positions as an Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University's Elliot School since August 2016 and as a Research Fellow at American University since August 2014. McCarthy has extensive experience as a consultant, having served as a Venezuela Country Expert for Freedom House and as a Senior Researcher for The Carter Center, where significant contributions were made to studies on Venezuelan elections. Additionally, McCarthy has taught at esteemed institutions such as Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and has held research fellowships at various organizations, including IESA and La Universidad Central de Venezuela. Holding a Ph.D. in Political Science from The Johns Hopkins University, McCarthy's expertise encompasses a wide range of topics within the Americas.
