Samia Zuber

Samia Zuber is the Director of Programs and Partnerships at Hack the Hood. A first-generation Eritrean-American born and raised in San Francisco, Samia is a proud alum of SFUSD schools. She went on to graduate from UC Davis after attending City College of San Francisco where she worked for the Outreach and Recruitment team as a Student Ambassador. In this role, she spent most of her time working with disenfranchised BlPOC communities, building relationships to help community members see higher education as a viable and affordable option. This experience uncovered systemic inequities that ignited Samia’s passion for education and racial equity work.

She channeled that passion into action, becoming one of the founding members of Students Making a Change, an organization fiscally sponsored by Coleman Youth Advocates that champions equitable educational policy, community engagement, and organizing. She also served on the Associate Students Council where she worked with undocumented student groups on campus to lead the creation of a resource center. Her support in this endeavor created a resource center that exists to serve and support undocumented CCSF students to this day.

Prior to joining Hack the Hood, Samia served as a Program Associate at Code2040, a nonprofit organization that is committed to breaking down structural barriers for Black and Latinx people in the innovation economy. During her time with the organization, she nurtured a community of Black & Latinx technologists as a steward of their education and activation at the intersections of racial equity & tech. Samia looks forward to continuing to serve her community and advocating for racial equity.
