Tom Lister

Tom Lister has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Tom is currently working as the CEO of Hackney Gelato, a position they have held since October 2020. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Financial Officer of the same company from April 2020 to September 2020.

In 2019, Tom worked as the Chief Financial & Operations Officer at Rosemary Water Limited, where they led the finance and operations agenda for a start-up FMCG brand. During this time, they streamlined the business and restructured the team, following a period of significant investment in the cost base. Tom also raised funds from crowdfunding, institutional investors, and high net worth individuals.

From 2012 to 2018, Tom held various roles at Purity Soft Drinks, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. As the CFO, they were responsible for financial control and stewardship of the company, which was a branded soft drink manufacturer. Tom played a key role in professionalizing the business, enhancing financial metrics, and enabling revenue and profit growth.

Prior to Purity Soft Drinks, Tom worked at Glennans Ltd. as a Financial Controller from 2007 to 2012. Here, they delivered significant cash and profit savings through improved reporting, supplier negotiation, and working capital management. Tom also worked closely with the CEO to develop and deliver the company's strategy.

Tom has also had their own financial consultancy business called Lister & Co., where they provided services to clients in various sectors such as media and events, film, construction, and medical industries. Tom worked as an Advisory // Owner from 2005 to 2012.

Furthermore, Tom gained experience in the accounting field by working at Breslins as a Client Manager // Advisory from 2006 to 2007 and at Michael Dufty Partnership Limited as a Client Manager, Senior Accountant, and Auditor & Accountant from 2001 to 2005. During this time, they provided accounting, tax, audit, and financial management advisory services to clients ranging from small businesses to larger companies.

Tom started their career as an Accountant at Gopal & Co Chartered Accountants in 1998, where they prepared management and statutory accounts for clients in various industries. Tom also worked at Sethi & Sethi Chartered Accountants as a Trainee Accountant from 1997 to 1998, providing compliance services and managing the payroll bureau.

Tom attended the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, in 2023, and completed an Executive Leadership Programme with a focus on Organisational Leadership.

In 2020, Tom returned to Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, to complete a Venture Finance Programme, which emphasized Venture Finance.

From 2019 to 2020, Tom attended the London Business School, where they pursued a degree called Entreprenuerial Edge, focusing on Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Studies.

In 2015, Tom obtained certification as a Certified Internal Auditor from the IIA-The Institute of Internal Auditors. However, this certification has since lapsed.

Tom began their academic journey by joining ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) in 2004 and became a Member in 2010. Tom later achieved the designation of Fellow (FCCA) in March 2010.
