Samantha Sunne

Community Director

Samantha Sunne is a seasoned freelance journalist with expertise in investigative reporting, recognized with three national grants and multiple awards. Since May 2015, Samantha has worked as a freelancer, writing for prominent publishers such as NPR, the Washington Post, and NOLA. In addition to freelance work, Samantha serves as the Community Director at Hacks/Hackers, facilitating communication for over 100 chapters globally and aiding in the establishment of new chapters in countries including Nigeria and Venezuela. Recent experience includes a Local News Reporting Fellowship at ProPublica, an instructorship in investigative journalism at the American University of Central Asia, and a teaching role at Hunter College. Previous professional roles encompass reporting for Thomson Reuters and internships with NPR and the Student Press Law Center. Samantha holds degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Universidad Austral, and Lund University.
