Hadar
Effy Unterman has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Effy started their career as a Community Educator at Kings Bay Y in 2010 and worked there for a year. Later, they joined Congregation Torat Emet as an Associate Rabbi in 2011 and served in that role until 2016. In 2016, they became a Rabbi at the Young Israel of East Brunswick and held that position until 2021. Currently, since November 2020, they are working as the Director of Content at Hadar.
Effy Unterman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Yeshiva University, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Effy then enrolled at Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, where they obtained Rabbinical Ordination and focused on Talmud and Jewish Law from 2006 to 2010.
Hadar
Founded in 2006, Hadar is an educational institution that empowers Jews to create and sustain vibrant, practicing, egalitarian communities of Torah learning, prayer, and service. Hadar offers year-long fellowship programs for Jews wanting to expand their knowledge of Torah. It teaches core Jewish values, Jewish ideas, and communal music. The institute also organizes short-term seminars for Jewish leaders of all backgrounds, from teachers and rabbis to Hillel professionals and lay people—all who want to make a difference in their communities. Through outstanding faculty, enthusiastic staff, individual donors, committed supporting foundations, and hundreds of alums, Hadar touches thousands of Jewish lives throughout the U.S. and Israel.
