Nathan Kennedy has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Nathan has worked at Hall & Wilcox as a Partner & Head of Pro Bono and Community since July 2019, where they are responsible for developing and managing the national pro bono strategy and business plan. Nathan also manages a litigation practice specializing in major claims involving catastrophic injuries and complex liability issues. Prior to this role, Nathan was a Director - Pro Bono and Community at Hall & Wilcox from July 2016 to June 2019, where they developed and managed the national pro bono strategy and business plan. Nathan has also served as a Special Counsel at the same company from June 2015 to June 2019.
Outside of Hall & Wilcox, Nathan has held various positions in organizations such as the Australian Human Rights Institute as an Advisory Committee Member since August 2021, Great Lakes Agency for Peace and Development International as a Board Member since March 2020, and Australian Lawyers for Human Rights as the Secretary from April 2017 to May 2019. Nathan has also been involved with Australian Lawyers for Human Rights as the President from March 2014 to April 2016 and as the Vice-president from April 2013 to March 2014.
Earlier in their career, Nathan worked as a Special Counsel at Sparke Helmore Lawyers from January 2015 to May 2015 and as a Senior Associate at Sparke Helmore from October 2006 to December 2014. Nathan also worked at The Office of the Official Receiver as an Examiner from July 2005 to September 2006, where they were responsible for investigating the affairs of companies that were wound up and protecting their assets. Prior to that, they worked as a Lawyer at Sparke Helmore from April 2003 to June 2005 and as a Solicitor at Turks Legal from January 2000 to April 2003.
Nathan Kennedy completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts in Law with Honors (BA LLB (Hons)) from the University of Technology Sydney. Nathan attended this institution from 1995 to 1999. Later, from 2009 to 2011, Nathan pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights and Social Justice at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
