Sean Callender

Sean Callender began their work experience in 1993 as a Secondary Science Teacher at Newport News Public Schools. Sean later held roles as a Secondary Science Teacher and Assistant Principal at York Public Schools County. In 2006, they returned to Newport News Public Schools, where they served as the Secondary Science Supervisor and held various leadership positions, including Principal at Woodside High School and School Principal. Since 2023, Sean has been working as the Director of Secondary Education Leadership at Hampton City Schools.

Sean Callender started their education journey by earning a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from East Carolina University in 1991. Sean then continued their studies at the same university, completing a Bachelor of Science in Science Teacher Education/General Science Teacher Education in 1992. Sean further pursued their education at William & Mary, obtaining a Master of Education in Educational Planning, Policy, and Leadership in 1999, followed by a Doctor of Education in the same field in 2015.
