CEO, Group Projects, Hancock Prospecting Group at Hancock Prospecting

Sanjiv was appointed to the newly created role of CEO Group Projects, Hancock Prospecting Group at the end of January 2023. In this role Sanjiv oversees all projects in the Hancock Group’s pipeline, including the significant iron ore initiatives in the Pilbara, as well as other new developments and international endeavours.

Sanjiv has had a long association with the Hancock Group, having served as CEO of Atlas Iron since October 2018 and simultaneously as Head of Project Development. He successfully led Atlas through a strategic review where he formalised its multi-pillar approach to stabilising and maximising the value from its projects. In this role he was awarded Runner Up “CEO of the year” in 2020 by the CEO Magazine. Previously he held the role of Project Director and subsequently Chief Operating Officer for the Roy Hill project as the operation ramped up to nameplate capacity. In 2016, he was awarded Project Director by the Project Management Institute.

Prior to holding senior roles in the iron ore industry across the Hancock Group, Sanjiv worked on large project developments in copper, gold, nickel and alumna industries. He has almost four decades experience operating large complex developments and working with international organisations in Korea, Japan, China, Canada, England and Indonesia. Sanjiv has been admitted as a Fellow to the Institution of Engineers Australia, and Fellow to the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
