Andy Shoulders

Andy Shoulders is the president & chief executive officer for Handex. At Handex, Andy’s responsibilities encompass sales and marketing, operations, and financial performance. Andy’s curiosity has made him an intent listener who focuses on building, hiring, training and providing team members whatever it takes to grow and prosper into a high-performance culture.

Andy previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Summit Contracting, LLC, a Midwestern environmental firm that offers remediation, industrial services, emergency response, and civil construction. Andy was responsible for the growth and profitability of traditional environmental remediation as well as industrial services within the oil & gas and chemical business sectors, with a particular focus on pipelines and terminals. Andy has been involved in some of the most complex and challenging remedial site clean-ups ranging from underground landfill fire, waste impoundment closures, heavy metal in-situ soil stabilization, unexploded ordnance removals (UXO), buried waste drum removal, wet excavation of contaminated soils and sediments, train derailments, and oil spills on the Wabash, Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. Andy is well versed in the American Petroleum Institute (API) standards and recommended practices for the safe entry and cleaning of petroleum storage tanks. Throughout his career, he has managed the cleaning of hundreds of aboveground storage tanks for API 653 inspections.

Andy has more than 33 years of progressive leadership experience in developing successful businesses, management, operations, sales, finance, and broad construction experience across industrial and environmental sectors. Andy’s experience includes working with many Fortune 500 companies in the railroad industry, petroleum and pipeline companies, utility companies, chemical manufacturing companies, pulp and paper companies, and architecture and engineering firms.

Andy has extensive experience in leading organizations to produce increased revenue growth and profitability. He has helped build organizations from the ground up with a commitment to customer satisfaction, workplace safety, developing future leaders, and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and best practices.

Raised in Evansville, Indiana, Andy received a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies (Summa Cum Laude), a Master of Science in Public Service, and an M.B.A. in Business Management all from the University of Evansville. In addition to his three college degrees, Andy has attended the Security and Emergency Response Training Center in Pueblo, Colorado for Tank Car Specialist, Advanced Tank Car Specialist, Railroad Emergency Response Specialist, and Highway Emergency Response Specialist. He has also attended Texas A&M University’s National Spill Control School in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Texas A&M University’s Oil Spill Control School in Galveston, Texas. Andy has also passed state contractor’s license exams in Florida, California, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Virginia. In 2005, Andy received a contractor service award from CSX Transportation for outstanding service provider. Throughout the 90’s Andy held licenses in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky for underground storage removal and water well drilling.

Andy lives in Central Florida with his wife and daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and reading for pleasure.
