Thordur Heidar Thorarinsson

Co-founder & CFO at Handpoint

Thordur Heidar Thorarinsson has a long history of working in the technology industry. In 1997, they co-founded Hjálp ehf., a company they founded while still in university. The following year, they became the Financial Manager at VYRE (formerly NCD), an internet company involved in creating web content management systems. In 1999, Thorarinsson co-founded Handtölvur ehf., a pioneer in industrial PDA software solutions servicing all the utility companies in Iceland and around 50% of the retail and wholesale market. In 2008, they co-founded Handpoint Limited and served as CFO & Co-Founder for the payment service provider in Iceland, that managed the payment switch for almost all card payments in Iceland, offered a suite of eCommerce solution to e. g. airlines and was an early mPOS pioneer. In 2019, they became a Board Member at Íslenskur textílínaður hf. (Ístex).

Thordur Heidar Thorarinsson attended Háskóli Íslands from 1996 to 2000, where they earned a B.Sc. in Engineering.
