President at Hanover College

Dr. Lambert’s leadership has been a catalyst for new program development at Hanover. During his tenure, the College has reestablished the Bachelor of Science degree, launched new academic majors in engineering, redesigned the core liberal arts curriculum, developed career pathways and institutional partnerships serving students in nursing and accounting, and started an intercollegiate swimming team. The College is currently developing a new graduate professional program that will be Hanover’s first graduate degree offering in more than a century.

With the College’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Lambert and his leadership team are currently developing a new strategic plan: Hanover Stands Above – Preparations for a Third Century. The plan will guide the College through its bicentennial in 2027 and provide the foundation for a strong future. Hanover Stands Above will call for continued programmatic innovation, student success enhancements, as well as numerous facility and technology improvements.

Prior to becoming president of Hanover College, Dr. Lambert served as the Dean of Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts in Macon, Georgia (2010-2015), and was a Professor of Religion and Board of Regents Chair in Ethics at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa (1996-2010).

He earned his Bachelor of Arts (History and Economics) and Master of Theological Studies degrees from Emory University and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. Dr. Lambert is a thoughtful and respected theologian with research interests in professional ethics, the intersection of Christianity and American culture, as well as church-related higher education. His book Spirituality Inc.: Religion in the American Workplace was published by New York University Press in 2009.
