Tomi Suoniemi

Vice President, Engineering and Product at HappyOrNot

Tomi Suoniemi has a long and varied career in the engineering and product industries. Tomi began their career in 1996 as a Sales Assistant at Delipap Oy. In 1998, they worked as a Master's Thesis worker at ABB, conducting a quality assessment study on a Lotus Notes-based groupware system and studying management information systems. In 1999, they joined Nokia as a Director of Product Management Operations, where they were responsible for overseeing a team of senior product planners. Tomi then moved to Microsoft in 2012 as a Principal Program Manager and Product Director, where they were responsible for product planning and execution, market definition, client and partner relations, and overall management of strategy, R&D, system engineering, sales and marketing, HR, finance, testing, production, and IT. In 2017, they joined RUAG MRO International as the CEO and General Manager of the Product unit electronics Finland. Their most recent role is as the Vice President of Engineering and Product at HappyOrNot, a global leader in real time customer and employee satisfaction measurement and analysis.

Tomi Suoniemi completed a M.Sc in Business Administration from the University of Tampere in 1999, with minors in Computer Sciences (SW), Marketing, Sales, Accounting, Law, and Economics. In 2007, they attended the London Business School for an Executive Education program for Nokia management, focusing on Operator Business Strategies and Strategic Planning, lead by Professor Fernando Suarez. Tomi also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Police Science from the Poliisiammattikorkeakoulu in 2021. In 1994, they completed a Reserve Officer School, achieving the rank of lieutenant. Additionally, they obtained a LEAN Six Sigma Champion certification from Nokia in 2013, and a Practical Product Management certification from Pragmatic Marketing/Institute in December 2011.
