Samir Patel, MD MPH CPL has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Samir started as an Internist at Sparks Health System in 2016 and went on to work as an Internist at Baptist Health Fort Smith & Van Buren in 2018. During this time, they also served as an Adjunct Professor at Lincoln Memorial University and Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2019, they became a Hospitalist at Sound Physicians and later took on the role of Associate Chief Medical Director Hospitalist. Additionally, they were the Medical Director at Valley Oaks Medical Group and Harbor Hospice. Currently, Dr. Patel is serving as the Vice Chair of Medicine and Medical Director at Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South. In 2023, they will join UNT Health Science Center as an Assistant Professor and the Society of Hospital Medicine as the Vice President.

Samir Patel, MD MPH CPL has an extensive education history. Samir obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree from B. J. Medical College from 2004 to 2010. Samir then pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Epidemiology at Tulane University, completing it from 2011 to 2013. Subsequently, they attended Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) from 2013 to 2016, where they earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and completed their residency as an Internal Medicine Resident Physician.

Dr. Patel continued their education with various certifications and programs. In 2016, they obtained the Diplomate certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine and completed the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support program from the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Additionally, they became Lean Six Sigma White Belt Certified through the Management and Strategy Institute.

To further enhance their leadership skills, Dr. Patel pursued the Certificate in Physician Leadership of Hospital Medicine from the American College of Physicians, which they obtained in 2019. In the same year, they became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Samir also gained expertise in healthcare administration and management by completing the Emerging Leadership Certificate program at Sound Physicians in 2021.

Dr. Patel's commitment to continual learning is evident through their additional certifications. Samir obtained the ECFMG Certification from ECFMG in 2012, followed by Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications from the American Heart Association in 2011. Most recently, they achieved the Certified Physician Executive (CPE) designation from the American Association for Physician Leadership® and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2022.
