Mark Lapsley has a diverse work experience in the digital marketing and media industry. Mark began their career as the co-founder and co-managing director of Intersect Communications Ltd, a specialist SEO, UX, and Analytics consultancy. Mark then co-founded and ran their own company, Lapsley Media, where they completed over 100 website and online projects.
Afterward, Mark worked as a search manager at ZenithOptimedia New Zealand, where they managed the search channel for ZenithOptimedia and Starcom New Zealand, as well as the search operations for some ZenithOptimedia Australia clients. Mark then joined VivaKi as the head of search, responsible for the team, best practices, procedures, and innovation within the VivaKi search hub.
Mark later joined Ogilvy NZ, first as the head of search and then as the digital performance director. In these roles, they oversaw the digital performance of the agency and was responsible for managing and improving search, social, display, analytics, and ecommerce platforms.
Mark continued their career as the digital media director at Firefly Search, where they revamped the media operations of the agency and built and managed a team of digital marketing specialists. Mark also designed systems and processes to enhance the effectiveness of paid media briefings, implementation, and reporting.
Prior to their current role, Mark worked as a digital marketing specialist at Cin7, a New Zealand-based SAAS company, where they ran a small digital media operations team focused on automated marketing products. Mark was responsible for designing reporting, proposals, implementation, and work processes.
Currently, Mark holds the role of performance media manager at Harmoney, the largest online personal lending platform in Australasia. In this position, they are involved in introducing and managing peer-to-peer lending, as well as overseeing performance media strategies. Harmoney recently went public in 2020 with an IPO on the Australian and New Zealand stock markets.
Mark Lapsley has a diverse education history. In 1999, they attended Media Design School, where they earned a diploma in New Media with a focus on web design. Mark then pursued higher education at The University of Auckland in 2003, completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration. From 2005 to 2009, Mark attended the same university, obtaining a Master of Management degree with a specialization in Business.
