Jeff Julian

Jeff Julian is the current Chief of Staff/Legislative Affairs at Harper College. Jeff has extensive experience in communications and public relations, having served as the Executive Director of Communications at Elgin Community College and Director of Communications and External Relations at Joliet Junior College. In their current role, Jeff oversees the Public Awareness Office (PAO) at the American Library Association (ALA), which manages the ALA's public awareness efforts through the Libraries Transform Campaign. Jeff is responsible for media relations, crisis communications, media training, and social media. Under Jeff's leadership, the PAO has been successful in delivering key messages to external audiences about the value of libraries and library professionals.

Jeff Julian has a Master of Arts in English Studies from Elmhurst University, a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Communications from the University of St. Francis, and a certificate in Crisis Leadership in Higher Education Program from Harvard Kennedy School. Jeff Julian also has certification from Harper College in Data Literacy Basics, FEMA Emergency Management Institute in Intro to the Incident Command System for Higher Ed (IS-00100.HE), and FEMA Emergency Management Institute in National Incident Management System, An Introduction (IS-00700.a).
