Cory Beatty has over 17 years of experience in marketing and publicity. Cory started their career as a Loss Prevention Officer at HMV in 2002. In 2003, they served as a Publicity and Marketing Intern at McClelland & Stewart. From 2004 to 2006, they worked as a Marketing Assistant at HarperCollins Canada, and then they were promoted to Marketing Associate from 2006 to 2008. Currently, Cory holds the position of Senior Director of Marketing & Publicity at HarperCollins Canada.

Cory Beatty completed an Hon. BA degree in English and Political Science from the University of Toronto - University College between 1997 and 2001. They then pursued a field of study in Creative Writing at Humber College from 2002 to 2003. In 2003 and 2004, Cory attended Ryerson University, but it is not specified whether they obtained a degree in that time or not. Additionally, in March 2021, Cory obtained a certification in "Building Relationships While Working from Home" from LinkedIn.
