James Thompson is an accomplished architect and leader with extensive experience in planning and design for educational, healthcare, and residential projects primarily in Maryland and Pennsylvania. As President of Thompson Associates Architects and Planners since May 2013, James has led numerous initiatives. In addition, James serves as Board President for Harrisburg School District and Board Vice President for Bellevue Park Association. Previously, James held various roles, including School Board Director for Harrisburg School District and Board Director for AIA Central Pennsylvania, where contributions included advocating for local architects and establishing scholarships for aspiring design students. With a robust career beginning as an intern architect in 1984, James has held positions ranging from owner at Akers Erwin Thompson Gasparella Architects to partner at Hayes Large Architects, where significant educational projects were developed across multiple states. James holds a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University.
