Hugh McFarlane

Hugh McFarlane is an experienced paramedic and emergency medical technician currently serving at Harrisonburg Rescue Squad, Inc. and Forest View Volunteer Rescue Squad since 2020 and 2019, respectively. As the President and Recruitment Chair of the American Medical Student Association from September 2022 to May 2024, Hugh has also contributed as an undergraduate research assistant at James Madison University and as a research fellow at Columbia University. Previous experience includes an internship at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, focused on clinical exposure through diverse settings and interprofessional collaboration workshops. Hugh's education includes a Bachelor of Science in Health Services from James Madison University, alongside earlier experience as Head Lifeguard at the YMCA of Greater Richmond from 2017 to 2021.
