Alexandra van den Broek has a diverse work experience in various roles and positions. Alexandra started their career as a research intern at UMC Utrecht in 2006 and then completed a research internship at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in 2007. Alexandra later joined Antoni van Leeuwenhoek as a PhD student, where they successfully defended their PhD thesis in 2017. Alexandra also worked as a data manager and epidemiologist at GGD Amsterdam from 2014 to 2015. Alexandra then took on the role of a trainer and assistant-trainer connected to a running project at PwC from 2013 to 2016. In 2015, they became a postdoctoral fellow and project manager at Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, where they managed the B-CAST project. Alexandra also worked as a data science trainee at Working Talent in 2018, where they obtained the fundamentals of big data. In the same year, they joined KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as a data scientist and later joined Hartwig Medical Foundation as a data scientist/bioinformatician. Alexandra eventually became the IT manager and IT lead (Diagnostic Services) at Hartwig Medical Foundation in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Alexandra van den Broek has a strong educational background in the field of Biomedical Sciences. Alexandra earned their Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science from Utrecht University in 2006. Alexandra then pursued further education and obtained their Master's degree in Biomedical Science from the same university in 2009. Alexandra completed their academic journey by earning their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biomedical Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) in 2017. In addition to their formal education, they have also obtained professional certifications, including an Arcitura Big Data B90.01-07 certification in 2018 from Arcitura Education Inc., and a Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org in the same year.
