Martin Wattenberg is a professor at Harvard University since July 2021 and a principal research scientist at Google, where involvement began in August 2010. As part of Google Brain, Martin co-founded the People + AI Research (PAIR) initiative and transitioned to part-time status in 2021. Prior experience includes ownership of Flowing Media, Inc. in 2010, serving as research manager at IBM from May 2002 to April 2010 while founding the IBM Research Visual Communication Lab, and directing research and development at SmartMoney.com at Dow Jones from May 1996 to May 2002. Martin Wattenberg holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, obtained between 1992 and 1996, a Master's degree from Stanford University (1991-1992), and a Bachelor's degree from Brown University (1987-1991).
