Jason Gerland

Relief Chief Engineer at Harvey Gulf International Marine

Jason Gerland has a diverse work experience in the maritime industry. Jason most recently worked as a Relief Chief Engineer at Harvey Gulf International Marine, starting in January 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a QMED Oiler at McAllister Towing from April 2020 to December 2021. Jason also served as an Able Bodied Seaman at various periods for the NCdot Ferry Division, NC State Dredge (Dredge Mateo), and NCDot Ferry Division. In addition, they worked as a Housing Inspector at Hatteras Reality for a brief period. Jason's earlier roles include being an Ordinary Seaman/Wiper for the NCDot Ferry Division in 2015 and 2014.

Jason Gerland obtained their Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from PennWest Clarion, which they attended from 2012 to 2016. Jason then pursued an education in maritime academies, including the Mid Atlantic Marine Academy, where they obtained a DDE 4000 certification. Jason also earned certifications in STCW, QMED Oiler, Advanced Fire Fighting, Basic Fire Fighting, and Able Bodied Seaman from various maritime academies such as the Mid Atlantic Maritime Academy and World Wide Marine Training.

In addition to their educational background, Jason Gerland has obtained various certifications from the U.S. Coast Guard and other institutions. Jason holds certifications such as National Designated Duty Engineer Steam/Motor/GT, Standard CPR/AED, Advanced Fire Fighting, Basic Fire Fighting, STCW-95, QMED Oiler, Able Bodied Seaman, and Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training. The most recent certifications they obtained were Standard CPR/AED in November 2021 and National Designated Duty Engineer Steam/Motor/GT in December 2021.
