Akram AbouEmara is an experienced software engineer and entrepreneur with a diverse background in cloud computing, microservices, and network technologies. Currently serving as a Principal Software Engineer at Hashgraph since February 2025, AbouEmara manages the Execution (Services) team. AbouEmara founded ScalePods in January 2014, a serverless cloud platform for reactive microservices, and led it until February 2025. Previous roles include Senior Software Engineer at Netflix, and Director of Cloud R&D at Savvis, where leadership involved developing innovative managed services and optimizing performance for Savvis Enterprise Cloud. AbouEmara's early career includes significant contributions at companies such as NetXen Inc, Fabric7 Systems, Midstream Technologies, Nokia, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, with a focus on kernel development, storage virtualization, and networking. AbouEmara holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a minor in Mathematics from Washington State University.
