Sheila Mortazavi handles all phases of intellectual property litigation and counseling, with a particular emphasis on patent infringement litigation and contentious patent office proceedings. Sheila advises clients on litigation strategy, as well as on the procurement and transfer of IP rights, negotiation of licenses, and the validity and enforceability of IP rights. She has also represented clients in unfair competition and trademark matters.
Sheila has over 20 years of experience litigating cases in federal and state courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the International Trade Commission (ITC). She has litigated cases involving diverse technology areas, including automotive components and systems, manufacturing processes, consumer electronics, computer hardware and software, internet business methods, telecommunications, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals. Throughout her extensive career, Sheila has counseled global companies such as Avaya, Bosch, Kawasaki, Olympus, Sony, and Toyota, as well as smaller companies and individuals.
In 2018, Sheila was recognized as one of only 38 Women of Influence by the New York Business Journal. She was also named one of the Top Women in Law by the New York Law Journal in 2016. Sheila was selected to the New York Metro Super Lawyers list for intellectual property litigation from 2016 – 2020, and in 2013 and 2014 she was selected as a “Rising Star” in intellectual property.
