Jackie Bush

Jackie Bush is the current Chief Financial Officer at Haven For Hope. Prior to this, they served as the VP of Finance at Haven for Hope of Bexar County from August 2010 to May 2021. In this role, they were responsible for financial compliance and preparing consolidated financial statements, including the Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, and the Statement of Cash Flows. Jackie also provided quarterly financial reports to stakeholders and ensured accuracy, compliance and timeliness of all accounting reports. Jackie worked with the Financial Team to develop reporting standards and processes to supply meaningful, timely and accurate reports for better decision making. Jackie also ensured that all reports and disclosures complied with applicable governmental regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies. Jackie met deadlines for financial reporting, including the Form 990. Jackie also prepared Tax Preparer worksheets for Form 990 and developed Policies and Procedures to ensure organizational compliance. As a result of their work, in the last three years a surplus of $3 million dollars of revenue over expenses was put into the endowment fund.

In addition to their compliance work, Jackie also maintained internal controls throughout the organization. Jackie worked with different departments to ensure policies meet organizational and audit standards. Jackie oversaw the preparation of the annual financial report and single audit and reviewed audit schedules and ensured the annual Haven for Hope financial audit is given a successful rating. Jackie supervised the production of all supporting documentation for periodic Federal Government audits upon request and served as the primary contact with all auditor relationships. Jackie also managed and maintained decision analysis on selection and retaining of audit firms. As a result of their efforts, the organization has received grade “A” clean audits with our external auditors as well as all government agency auditors.

Jackie Bush has a Masters of Science in Accounting from the University of the Incarnate Word and a Master of Business Administration from the same school. Jackie also has a Bachelor of Business Administration with an accounting concentration from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
