Cherilyn Inouye, PhD, is an experienced educational leader currently serving as the Compassionate Koʻolaupoko District Educational Specialist at the Hawaii State Department of Education since July 2013, and previously held the position of principal at Kaʻelepulu Elementary School. Inouye has extensive experience in educational roles including vice principal and TA principal at the same school, and has also worked as a summer institute staff developer and Hawaii State Director for the AVID Center, overseeing the implementation of AVID programs across multiple schools in Hawaii. Other experiences include serving as a trainer for the State of Hawaii Office of Elections, community organizer for Kanu Hawaii, and various teaching positions in Hawaii. Inouye holds a PhD in Educational Foundations and multiple degrees from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and the University of Puget Sound.
