Dick is an internationally recognized expert in security, including cybersecurity, risk management, crisis management, and international security affairs. He is unique among national security managers in that he served a continuous ten years in the White House for three consecutive presidents (Bush, Clinton, Bush). Dick served in the White House as Special Assistant to the President for Global Affairs, National Coordinator for Security and Counter-terrorism, and as the first “Cyber Czar.” On 9-11, he was the national crisis manager.

Prior to his White House years, Dick was confirmed by the Senate as an Assistant Secretary of State in the George H.W. Bush Administration and was earlier head of that department’s intelligence analysis unit in the Reagan Administration. At State, he led international negotiations and regional crisis management teams, including in the first Gulf War. In both State and earlier in the Defense Department, Dick engaged in nuclear arms control negotiations.

Since leaving government, he has taught at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, been an on-air consultant and commentator for ABC News, written nine books and five major studies (including the national # 1 NY Times best-seller), founded and managed a security consulting firm in the UAE and a cyber security consultancy in the US.

His work in investments includes on-going advising of private equity and venture capital firms. Dick is a graduate of the Boston Public Schools (including the Boston Latin School), the University of Pennsylvania, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
