Lara James

Lara James is an experienced marketing professional with a diverse background in brand strategy and marketing leadership. Currently serving as an Advisor at HawkPartners since 2025, Lara previously held the position of Chief Marketing Officer at Facing History and Ourselves from 2018 to September 2024. Prior roles include Vice President of Brand Marketing at MassMutual, where Lara led marketing and brand strategy for the Life Company, and Vice President of Brand Marketing at Capital One, overseeing brand strategy for various lending businesses. Additionally, Lara worked as a Marketing Strategy Consultant at Time Warner Cable Business Class and directed national marketing strategy at Ernst & Young. Early career experience includes a principal role at Oliver Wyman, leading marketing strategy engagements for high-profile clients. Lara holds a BA in American History from Oberlin College and attended Concord Academy.
