Hawthorne Community Center
Brent Pedersen, MPA, serves as the Senior Director of Operations at Hawthorne Community Center, a position held since August 2006. Currently, Brent focuses on human resources, risk management, compliance, and operational oversight of building and grounds. Notably, Brent expanded leadership responsibilities to encompass operational management and supported the transition to a new Executive Director. Previous roles at Hawthorne include Director of Compliance and Human Resources, where Brent ensured staff employment compliance and coordinated grant reporting, and Director of Youth Programs, highlighted by significant program development and management achievements. Brent's early career includes a Graduate Assistantship at IUPUI and internships at Riverview Hospital, Indiana Youth Institute, and Horizon House. Academic credentials include a Master’s in Public Administration from the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree in English Writing from DePauw University.

Hawthorne Community Center
Hawthorne Community Center has been serving the Near Westside of Indianapolis for more than 90 years. Hawthorne provides services for neighborhood residents ranging from early education to adult financial literacy programs. Hawthorne includes three separate buildings serving youth, families and older adults. Hawthorne’s mission is to provide or facilitate services and programs that meet the economic, educational, financial, social, recreational, and civic needs of the Near Westside.
