Andrea Rivera Tordecilla has a wealth of experience in the agricultural sciences. Andrea began their career in 2010 as a Professional Practitioner at the Propagation Laboratory of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, where they worked in clonal propagation modules of paltos and in vitro propagation. In 2011, they were a Monitor of Diffusion at the Faculty of Agronomy, giving lectures and guided tours to groups interested in the Faculty and Experimental Station La Palma. Andrea also served as an Assistant of Teaching and Laboratory and an Assistant of Research, working on a project of genetic improvement of cherries. In 2013, they joined GAMA - Sociedad Gardiazabal y Mena Ltda. as an Assistant of Research, coordinating activities and work teams for the development of avocado and citrus applied research. Andrea was also responsible for registering, organizing, processing and statistical analysis of data, and had direct contact with clients. In 2021, they joined Hazel Technologies, Inc. as a Senior Postharvest Scientist, developing new solutions to extend quality shelf life of fresh produce and reduce food waste in the supply chain, funded by multiple grants from the USDA and venture capital funding.
Andrea Rivera Tordecilla completed their Master's degree in Agribusiness from The University of Queensland in 2015. Prior to that, they obtained their Ingeniero degree in Agrónomo from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in 2010. In 2009, they attended Utah State University for a field of study in Agricultural Science.
