Rick Hayden's work experience includes a history of diverse roles at different companies. Rick began their career as a Welder/Fabricator at Hazelett Corporation in 1985 and worked in this role until 1990. In 1990, they became the President/Owner of Cabin-N-Castle Homes, Inc, where they focused on turn-key construction of custom western red cedar log homes as well as conventional home construction, remodeling, and additions. In 1996, Rick returned to Hazelett Corporation, starting as a Field Service Technician/Assembly Technician, where they assembled and tested equipment and traveled globally to install, commission, and maintain casters. Over the next few years, they progressed through various management roles, ultimately becoming the Vice President - Manufacturing in 2011. Throughout their time at Hazelett Corporation, Rick has demonstrated expertise in manufacturing, engineering, and management, with responsibilities including setting quality standards, developing procedures, eliminating inefficiencies, and managing capital budgets.

Rick Hayden attended the Technical Careers Institute from 1984 to 1985, where they studied Welding and Fabricating Technology. Prior to that, from 1980 to 1984, they attended Colchester High School. In addition to their education, Rick Hayden also obtained the Firefighter 1 certification from the State of Vermont, although the specific month in which they obtained it is not indicated.
