Karen Gaffney is an accomplished research professional with a strong background in bioinformatics and machine learning. Currently serving as a Research Associate II at HDT Bio since November 2022, Karen leverages expertise in analyzing RNA transcriptomics data and automating detection of fluorescent cells through computer vision scripting. Previous experiences include a role as a Machine Learning Intern at Cellarity, where Karen explored cell behavior using single-cell technologies, and various research assistant positions at the University of Washington, focusing on engineered bone tissues and genetic modifications in stem cells. Karen's educational journey encompasses a Master of Science in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology and two Bachelor of Science degrees in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering, as well as Bioengineering and Data Science, from the University of Washington.
