Free-lance Grants Management Consultant at Headstrong Project

Karen Baar is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in grants management and nonprofit development. Currently serving as a free-lance grants management consultant for The Headstrong Project since April 2018, Baar has also held the position of Director of Development at Connecticut Fund for the Environment/Save the Sound since January 2008, leading a team dedicated to raising over $5 million annually and specializing in grant writing and relations with funding agencies. Previous roles include free-lance writer and author from 1992 to 2008, Senior Health Program Specialist for the CT Department of Income Maintenance, and various positions at Planned Parenthood of Connecticut, where significant grant funding and program development were achieved. Baar holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from New York University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Yale School of Public Health.
