Laura Tollen has a varied and extensive work experience in the field of health policy. Laura is currently working at Health Affairs as the Senior Editor and Director for the Health Affairs Council on Health Care Spending and Value. Prior to this role, they worked as a Principal at Tollen Health Policy Consulting, where they provided independent health policy consulting services, including research, writing, editing, and grant-writing. Before that, they were the Senior Policy Director at Breakaway Policy Strategies, where they conducted qualitative research and analysis for various health care stakeholders. Laura also has experience working as a Senior Health Policy Consultant at the Kaiser Permanente Institute for Health Policy, focusing on research and analysis related to physician group and delivery system organization, as well as insurance market structure and functioning. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Senior Consultant at the Institute for Health Policy Solutions and as a Senior Health Policy Analyst at the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing.
Laura Tollen completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Medical Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley from 1987 to 1991. Later, they pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Health Policy at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health from 1992 to 1994.
