Charles Oakley is an experienced leader in health and safety, currently serving as Head of Strategic Partnerships at the Health and Safety Executive since June 2016. Oakley has played a pivotal role in developing sustainable strategies and managing HSE's commercial activities, including contributions to the UK's space launch programme and establishing key studies during the Covid pandemic. Previous roles include Head of Commercial Business and Head of Shared Research at HSE, as well as Unit Head at the Health & Safety Laboratory. Earlier in the career, Oakley held positions such as Director of Vehicle Safety & Engineering at TRL, Consultant at Frazer-Nash Consultancy, Stress Engineer at BAE Systems, and began as a Student/Graduate Engineer at the Ministry of Defence. Oakley holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol.
