VP Of Health Equity & Stakeholder Engagement at Health Leads

Tene Franklin has a diverse work experience that spans various organizations and roles. From 1999 to 2002, they served as a Senior Project Director and Consultant for the National Center for Bioethics in Research and Healthcare at Tuskegee University. During this time, they were involved in collaborative projects with other universities and received funding from the National Institutes of Health. From 2001 to 2003, they worked as the Project Director and Researcher for the Center for Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on the study of genetics and social identity. In 2004, they joined Meharry Medical College as a Genetic Counselor, where they provided counseling and support to families affected by hemoglobinapathies. Tene also conducted training programs for healthcare agencies regarding genetic disorders. In 2014, they joined the State of Tennessee as the Director of the Office of Minority Health and Disparities Elimination, where they provided leadership and advocated for policies addressing the cultural and ethnic needs of minority populations. Finally, in 2018, they joined Health Leads as the VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, where they provided strategic leadership in promoting intercultural competence and inclusive practices. In 2020, they transitioned to the role of VP of Health Equity & Stakeholder Engagement.

Tene Franklin has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Virginia. Tene also holds a Master of Science degree in Genetics and Human Genetics from Howard University.
