Jess Herbert is a Senior Service Designer at Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand since February 2024, previously serving in various roles at the Department of Internal Affairs (NZ) from October 2016 to January 2024, including Senior Service Designer and Service Designer. Responsibilities included leading multi-disciplinary teams, conducting user research, facilitating workshops, and improving service experiences based on insights. Jess also contributed to the Life Events work program focused on integrating government services for individuals undergoing significant life changes and played a key role in marketing and communications for SmartStart. Prior experience includes website design and development for the Wellington Wairarapa Gliding Club. Jess holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Information Systems (specialisation in analysis and design) from Victoria University of Wellington and has achieved excellence endorsed NCEA Levels 1, 2 & 3 from Kapiti College.

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora leads the day-to-day running of the health system. Functions are delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. These include: - hospital and specialist services - the National Public Health Service - clinical governance - primary and community care. We also work to improve services and health outcomes. We do this in partnership with Te Aka Whai Ora - Māori Health Authority. We have united the former 20 District Health Boards, shared services agencies and Te Hiringa Hauora (Health Promotion Agency).
