Sofia Barbosa Gouveia is a highly experienced researcher and clinical trial coordinator specializing in genetic and clinical research on pediatric rare disorders. Currently serving as a post-doctoral researcher at Hospital Clínico Universitario de Santiago de Compostela since January 2021 and as a clinical trial coordinator at Fundación Ramón Domínguez since March 2016, Sofia has previously held positions as a doctoral researcher and conducted research within the European Network and Registry for Homocystinurias and Methylation Defects. Sofia completed a PhD in 2020 at Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, where studies focused on genetic and clinical aspects of pediatric rare disorders, and holds a Master's degree in Genetics in Neurometabolic Disorders from the same institution. The Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (IDIS) is a translational research, innovation and knowledge transfer centre which leverages and boosts synergies between the University and the Health Care Areas of Santiago de Compostela and Barbanza, and of Lugo, A Mariña and Monforte de Lemos. IDIS was officially certified as a research centre of the Spanish Health System by the Institute of Health Carlos III in March 2010.
