Gerrit Meijer

Gerrit Meijer serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at Health-RI since January 2018 and has held multiple key positions at The Netherlands Cancer Institute, including Head of Research & Innovation in the Department of Pathology, Head of the Division of Diagnostic Translational Oncology, and Head of the Department of Pathology since March 2015. Gerrit Meijer is also a Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at CRCbioscreen since March 2021 and a Professor of Oncologic Pathology at Utrecht University and UMC Utrecht since June 2016. In addition to these roles, Gerrit Meijer has contributed significantly to personalized medicine research infrastructure and has served in various leadership roles, including principal investigator for TraIT and co-national director for EATRIS-NL. Prior experience includes serving as Department Chair at VU University medical center from 2009 to 2015 and various roles in the Department of Pathology at the same institution from 1988 to 2009. Gerrit Meijer's academic journey began at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam from 1985 to 1993 and includes early training as an operation nurse in training at Burgerziekenhuis and military service.
