Julian Sutton is a highly experienced maternity investigator currently working at Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigations (MNSI) and the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch since September 2018. With a robust background in clinical governance and risk management, Julian has held significant roles at St Georges Healthcare NHS Trust, including Lead Midwife for Clinical Governance and IT Midwife & Assistant Risk Manager, where responsibilities included overseeing maternity clinical risk management, compliance with the Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts (CNST), and facilitating serious incident investigation panels. Prior experience includes positions as Interim Labour Ward Manager at Barts and The London NHS Trust and St Georges Healthcare NHS Trust, focusing on clinical management and the development of specialized units such as obstetric high dependency. Julian holds a Diploma in Computing from The Open University and extensive educational credentials from Portsmouth Polytechnic and the University of Portsmouth.
