John Bachir

John Bachir has extensive work experience in the technology industry.

John is currently serving as the Director of Engineering at Healthie Inc. since January 2019. Prior to their current position, they worked at Freedom from December 2015 to December 2018, where they held the role of CTO. At Freedom, they were responsible for designing an agile product development workflow and leading the design of backend systems and software architecture.

Before their time at Freedom, John was the Co-Founder and CTO of Medstro from October 2013 to December 2015. John led a product team of 4 developers and a designer, following an agile approach to release code multiple times per day.

John also has experience as a Co-Founder and CTO at Ganxy from 2009 to 2013. During their tenure, they led a product team of 3 developers and a designer, focusing on developing products for content creators and consumers.

Prior to their role at Ganxy, John served as the Director of Technology at Firedoglake from June 2008 to December 2010. John was responsible for designing and implementing all aspects of technology for the popular liberal political blog.

Additionally, John worked as a Lead Software Engineer at Digital Pulp from July 2006 to May 2008, and as a Software Engineer at ibiblio.org from January 2005 to January 2007. At ibiblio.org, they developed Lyceum, a competitor to WordPress MU, and was asked by O'Reilly to write a WordPress book based on their work.

John has also provided advisory services as an Advisor at Feedward in 2020 and held the position of Principal at JJB Labs from April 2021 onwards.

John Bachir attended Rice University from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Computer Science.
