Benjamin Kuan has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Benjamin started their career as a Medical Officer in SingHealth in 2004 and then transitioned to the Singapore Armed Forces, where they served as a Medical Officer attached to a combat battalion. In this role, they were actively involved in Division and Medical Corps staff work, planning, and overseas deployment.
In 2007, Benjamin joined MHC Asia Group, where they held multiple positions over the years. Benjamin worked as a Family Physician and later became the Chief Medical Officer, overseeing medical services. Benjamin also served as the Head of Managed Health Solutions, where they were responsible for business development, partnerships, and securing corporate healthcare contracts. Additionally, they played a key role in developing an in-house telehealth solution and managing the M&A of medical practices.
In 2020, Benjamin joined HealthServe Ltd as the Head of Medical Services. Benjamin later took on the role of Deputy Executive Director before becoming the CEO. In their current position, they lead the agency in providing medical, dental, mental health, casework support, and crisis helpline services to low-wage migrant workers in Singapore. Benjamin is dedicated to championing a society where all migrant workers can live a life of health, well-being, and dignity.
Benjamin Kuan's education history begins in 1996 when they attended Hwa Chong Junior College. From 1998 to 2003, Benjamin studied Medicine at the National University of Singapore, earning a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. Benjamin then pursued further education and received a Graduate Diploma of Family Medicine from the College of Family Physicians Singapore from 2008 to 2010. In 2015 and 2016, Benjamin attended both the National University of Singapore and UCLA Anderson School of Management simultaneously, earning a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from the former and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a field of study in Business Administration and Management, General from the latter.
